Someone New by Kiera Starr

‘Someone New’ not only marks Kiera Starr’s debut single, it is also the lead single from her debut album ‘Whole Lotta Baggage’.

The UK based singer/songwriter & producer, takes the popular song ‘Something New’ by girlband ‘Girls Aloud’ and takes the chorus lyrics as a sample in this “fiery, heartbreak song about finding independence”.

“All I want is something new, something I can hold on to. I don’t want to talk, I just want to dance” turns into “all I want is someone new, someone I can hold on to, I don’t want to talk, I just want to dance.”

Kiera speaking on the song, “I wanted to pay homage to my favourite girl band and use one of their songs in my debut single.” Kiera goes on to explain why she chose this song as her debut, “it’s such a powerful, heartbreak song, it’s all about finding that independence after a breakup, wanting to move away, change your identity and have a fresh start, that’s how I felt…”

Kiera is about to release her debut project on SoundCloud ‘Whole Lotta Baggage’. The album title comes from her carrying her trauma her entire life and dishing the dirt on everything she’s been through, all into one project. The upcoming album speaks on different topics such as heartbreak, eating disorders, drug addiction, alcohol addiction, sexual assault, depression & suicide.
