"resist to break free" is about resisting the haters in order to break free from your self-imposed limitations. The melody and countermelody fight and harmonize back and forth to represent that internal struggle we face when deciding between temporary comfort or revolutionary courage.
I hope that you can listen and find a part of yourself in the song. I put a part of myself into it in hopes that you do.

@ruasbr: Yes, I saw a musician friend talk about leitmotifs and tried to infuse that into the song to express the idea and emotion.
