After a short trip to snowy and cosy Stuttgart to picao, the desire for sun and sea has grabbed us... .

So today we welcome you from Florida's pearl Miami. There, of course, we had to meet Adrian aka Magician On Duty. A talented artist and manager who also brought attention to our scene in Europe with his original podcast series of the same name (soundcloud.com/magicianonduty/sets/journey-series). At least for all those who like organic deep house. In the course of time, Magician On Duty developed further into a label with releases by, for example, @thomas-gaarthuis, @david-hasert and many more. Here, too, the original spirit is preserved.

When we heard the mix for the first time a few days ago, we were a little surprised and speechless at first. Downtempo? Adrian? Basically, we had expected something else, namely his signature sound: Organic Deep House. But the first impression was deceptive. After just a few minutes, he increased the tempo to his usual level.

His set is an exciting 'afterhours' journey into the thicket of melodic and hypnotic electronic music. In over three hours of music, he has packed in pretty much everything he has in the way of tools and hidden gems to make this mix a special one. Enriched with instrumental and vocal passages like the classic "I can't get no sleep" by Faithless, he even gives the recording a feeling of being at home and nostalgia. Alongside all the positivity, however, he doesn't forget to implement a fair amount of depth into his set. Thus, he daringly but skilfully keeps the balance between lightness and ecstasy. All in all, the mix has become an absolute cream puff, which we definitely don't want to miss anymore: Namely timeless, individual and with a lot of love for detail.

If afterhour sounds, then here. Although, the mix really does suit any time of day or night.

Besides the mix, we didn't miss the chance to ask Adrian a few questions that we don't want to withhold from you.

Q: What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

A: I liked music since I was a child, it was sort of my refuge... listening to tapes from Michael Jackson, Depeche Mode, Queen and more. I guess I got more exposed to music, in general, while I was breakdancing with my friends. We were listening and training on funk, jazz and hip hop.

Q: What makes a good "afterhour"?

A: The soundtrack to an early morning party can be incredibly powerful, helping to create an atmosphere of excitement and energy. Whether it's downtempo or something more energy driven, the music can help to set the tone for the party and create a sense of unity among those in attendance.

What makes it good? The ability to connect with everyone around you. That feeling when you look around and everyone is on the same frequency. If we are connected, we are all on the same journey.

Q: Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?

I think this is one of my favorite sets that I have recorded, as it has all the ingredients necessary to facilitate a fantastic journey. There are so many ways that you can approach an afterhour set, I don't think there is a certain formula or format that you should use, I think the artist has the freedom to pursue any mood or genre as long as It creates a connection between people.
