DJ MAUS

A big smile, broad shoulders, mesmerizing blue eyes behind the decks, combined with the crowd raising the roof. That’s Maus!

Maus, known as Maurice in daily life, started out quite early to get his bearings in music. Just like many of his distinguished DJ colleagues, Maus started out in his attic room. Inspired by a multitude of drive-in shows he would mix 12 inch records together for hours. Eventually, this hobby resulted in a “side job” at a local radio station. The opportunity to work at a radio station considerably increased his musical knowledge.

In his late teens, house music made it’s entrance in the Netherlands. His first contact with this music was the beginning of a long-lasting love affair. A love which, among other, manifests itself in a daily search for new music to implement in his sets. Although his sets are marked with a clear signature, none of them will be exactly the same.|

After years of mainly spinning records for his friends, often after one of the many parties he attended with friends, it was time for the big work! In October 2012 the first edition of Pleasure Lounge took place, a party organized by Maus and a group of friends.

However, his big breakthrough Maus experienced during the “5 year anniversary” of Guest Zone, in early 2015. Members of the party website “Guest Zone” were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite DJs. The responses were overwhelming and Maus won this election with flying colors! Therefore, it is only logical he was asked for the next edition. Due to this a series of gigs followed. For example: Kinky on the Beach, Sfeer, Pleasure Lounge outdoor, Mysterious Dreamzz, Booming and Canal Pride Amsterdam. Even on the party island Ibiza he has played a guest DJ Set at Bora Bora.

So far, 2019 has been a busy year for Maus. He has become resident of the well-known Crazyland. This concept, famous for the big parties at the Hemkade, is sold out time after time. Today, Maus has become a highly sought-after DJ in the Netherlands. In the past year, among others, he performed at Bitch, Pleasure Time, Lollypop, Corto Dimanche, Secretz and Kinky on the Beach. Maus’s absolute highlight was on 13 August 2016 and 12 August 2017 when he made his debut on the Crazyland Stage at the world-famous Dance Valley festival in Spaarnwoude. He will perform here again this year .

Maus’s sets are often distinguished by a lot of variation, pounding bass lines, occasionally accompanied by vocals. No peeps and bleeps like many EDM DJs, but rather solid, pure progressive House the way it is meant to be. By varying a lot and constantly probing the crowd’s vibe, Maus keeps the energy flowing. A night of Maus blasting through the speakers and it’s time for new sneakers!
