Jeremiah was a naughty boy
His daddy told him so
Though he tried to be a good boy
and he tried with all his might
He couldn't make them happy
He never seemed to get it right

Veronique was pale these days
At times he'd see her shaking
I love you mummy he would say
To try and make her better
But that just seemed to make things worse
It just seemed to upset her

I'll look after us mummy
Jeremiah said
Stroking Veronique gently as she lay upon the bed
Let's go to the picnic on Saturday
That would be lots of fun
Perhaps, if we ask her nicely
Dominique could come?

Your daddy is a nasty man
and he's never coming back
When Jeremiah thought about
The things that he would lack
He wouldn't miss his daddy
Or his shouting or his smacks
