Home In The Holy Now by Len Seligman published on 2023-03-31T18:59:44Z A song of gratitude for the beauty of the natural world. This focus on gratitude along with images of Autumn (“sun drenched morning, leaves falling down, Fall is so pretty in my hometown”) make it perfect for November and the run up to Thanksgiving. I was inspired to write it on one of my frequent walks in and around my new hometown of Eugene, Oregon. While walking through majestic trees, I felt completely content, needing nothing else. And the title came to me: “home in the holy now.” Later that day, at home with my Taylor guitar, I wrote most of the remaining lines based on images of Oregon: the beautiful Fall day, a nearby lush green valley, and the towering Douglas Fir in my backyard. The last verse was inspired by my immense gratitude for my wife Ella, the rest of my family, my friends, and our labradoodle pup Teddy. The song won First Place in the 2023 Great American Song Contest and was also a Finalist in the 2023 West Coast Songwriting Contest. I play all the instruments, including the slide guitar solo. Harmonies are by gifted Oregon-based singer songwriter Laura Kemp. Genre Folk & Singer-Songwriter
