Recording artist and performing musician Liz Larin’s music and lyrics evoke dramatic landscapes and romantic worlds. Cutting her teeth in the Detroit rock/pop/techno and jazz scene, this restless, creative spirit has garnered an international fan base through her music. She travels with portable audio and video production, capturing inspirational moments and turning them into music and audio-visual storytelling.
A multi-instrumentalist, Liz Larin is as comfortable in a recording studio as she is on stage. As a live show, Liz Larin's 'Sound & Light' is an audio-video performance, a natural progression supporting the cinematic scope of the music. Recording under six band names, Liz Larin fearlessly embodies a spirit of inventiveness and was voted number fifteen by AOR Magazine in the UK in an issue about the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Rock.
HISTORY: A songwriter at age ten, Liz Larin was a professional musician by 12, performing pop and religious music. By age 15, she was a music teacher
and found herself being mentored by some of Detroit's best musicians. As a performing duo with Michael King, the hit single 'In Hot Pursuit,' produced by Gary Spaniola (Ready For The World,) garnered national attention, which led to a recording contract with Atlantic Records. ‘One By One By One,' the first international release with her band ‘Rebel Heels,’ was recorded in England with producer Rupert Hine (The Fixx, Howard Jones) and British recording engineer Stephen Tayler (Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Stevie Nicks, Howard Jones.) Liz Larin's second international recording on Atlantic recording was 'Test Your Faith.' with producer Rob Robinson, which included tracks produced by Ben Grosse (Filter, Vertical Horizon, Marilyn Manson). Living in Los Angeles she wrote and co-produced EP 'Merry Wicked' with producer Scott Spock of The Matrix (Avril Lavigne, Korn, Hilary Duff, Shakira, Jason Mraz) and guitarist Randy Jacobs (Was Not Was, BoneShakers.) This debuted on Larin's imprint, Bona Dea Records in 2000, which continues to expand and includes Grammy Award-winning artists, musicians, and producers.
Relishing the creative freedom associated with owning her label and publishing entities, Liz Larin has continued to thrive, as her songs can be heard today in multiple film and TV movies, including Lifetime Television movies. Albums include The Story Of O-Miz, Wake Up, Start Dreaming, Hurricane, Good Human, and The Expedition, with a new pop album slated for a mid-2024 release. Today, Liz Larin works with filmmakers as a creative composer and sound designer. Public performances of her modern compositions include ‘Beauty in Three Parts,’ which debuted at a 'New Music Detroit - Strange Beautiful Music' concert featuring symphonic musicians from Detroit, Minnesota, and Boston.
