Somewhere in wetdog's childhood home lays a hard drive filled with early 2010's goodness. For Moods 55, she dug through it and came out on the other side with an hour long mix featuring music from Sleigh Bells, Spiritualized, and Nicki Minaj (you really had to be there).

1) Where did you grow up? Was it a single place or many places? How did this influence the songs you listened to?
I grew up in Franklin Michigan with my parents and sister. It was a lonely place to grow up as a kid, having only one other person to hang out with in my neighborhood. Luckily all we did was play MTV on her parents flat screen and dance. This introduced me to a plethora of trashy 2000 pop music. I remember being specifically drawn to the songs with club elements in it such as Black Eyed Peas “Humps” and PussyCat Dolls “Buttons”. I was drawn to these sounds, it felt like the beat was engineered for me to dance and it worked on my 7 year old brain. My parents never let me watch MTV or indulge in any pop music so I always felt I was yearning to go experience that at my neighbors house and in the process probably annoyed the hell out of her.
(2) Can you pick one song in the mix and explain where you first listened to it
All of these songs I first listened to off my parents computer in the dark late at night.
(3) Who “introduced” you to these songs? Was it a person, a radio station, a CD, or something else?
Funny enough most of the files I used for this mix was music that my friend Levi had sent me over iChat when I was 12. He introduced me to a lot of the music that influences me today like MIA but we were famously also die hard Lady Gaga Stans. He also introduced me to Hipster Runoff, leading me to embark on my Tumblr journey which also exposed me to a lot of music, movies, fashion, and cultural history. Thank you Levi!!!
(4) Where and when did you first hear techno? What drew you to it? Who did it sound like it was for?
I think techno has always been around me but maybe I hadn’t been so keenly aware until one winter break during college, I was staying with my parents and there was a power outage. I had this weird generator radio/flashlight so I turned on the radio and switched to 105.9 fm where DJ Fingers was spinning CLEAR by CYBOTRON. It was such a poignant moment laying in the dark on my bed having no electricity but being able to hear this through the radio. It sounded like it was for someone who was listening.
(5) You’ve got the microphone. What do you want to say to the techno community?
