Get Acquainted with the Riviera Ramblers CD by Riviera Ramblers published on 2023-05-23T09:27:30Z The selection of music for this album is similar to two sets of a live performance. Dal's guitar introduces each disc with the stylistic statement of the bands identity and leads on to a chaismatic mix of melodies and moods. Minor Swing, HCQ strut, Swing 42 and Tears are all Django Reinhardt tunes. Swing 42 features Zoe on clarinet with the strings. On Chasing Shadows and Tears John plays trumpet with the strings and sings. The string section do their own stuff on Lover Come Back to Me(john Whitlock featuring on banjo, Man of Mystery (Dale leads with John and Pete)and My One and Only Love - (a feature for Pete on bass accompanied by Dale). Zoe sings on I'll Never Say 'Never Again' Again, Get Out and Get Under the Moon and Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. Get Aquainted with Yourself is a bit of nonsense recorded by Willie the Lion Smith in 1937, John takes the vocal and also sings on Seul Ce Soir in French and on the Louise Jordan favourite Choo Choo ch'Boogie. Avalon, Sweet Georgia Brown, J'attendrai, China Boy and Sidney Bechet's Pattes de Mouch all feature the entire ensemble.
