Ajax (4am) by Paul Ista published on 2025-03-19T23:23:13Z Kid wouldn't sleep. At 4am I took him for a drive. It was very foggy. This is also another jab at the incredibly stupid but highly prehensile idea of giving Ajax a melodic theme - the one played on the piano right at the middle of the song. One thing I'm proud of since I (re)started making music is that I now go free meter most of the time - but in this song I had a bit of a challenge on how to synchronize the two halves of the song with the melodic theme right in the middle - so I used a timer on my phone while recording the piano. I'm also proud of having achieved the entire drone texture during my work commute, on the train, using only my OP-1 and a lot of knob tweaking. Oh, and the tombola. I love the tombola. OP-1 Field + hastily positioned H1N + living room piano + GO train quiet zone background noise as vocoder formant. This track was finished on March 5, 2024. Mastered in March 2025. Genre Ambient
