Red Tangent Records Bristol We are a Lived Experience Record Label, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and born of Music in Prisons charity Changing Tunes. Music has the power to connect and to challenge, we want our rostered artists and production staff to have an impact musically as well as to challenge preconceptions about what it means to be an ex-prisoner. We have three main goals in our work: 1. Release bangin' tracks straight into your earholes! Our focus is showcasing the amazing musicians, songwriters and producers coming through the UK criminal justice system. Our artists come from a range of backgrounds and perform in a variety of genres. They are all, obviously, awesome. Secondary to that we also aim to work with a range of engineers and technicians with lived experience who we can support in their professional development by providing engineering, mixing, artist management and live event promotion skills for local bands and artists as well as our own rostered artists. 2. Highlight the interconnected issues of Identity, Prison Reform, Recidivism and Social Reform. Without encroaching on our artists personal identities we will endeavour to raise awareness and campaign for positive social change. 3. Practically address the issue of child safety and the prevention of crime by founding a grassroots foundation providing free access to music, sport and the creative arts for children at-risk of offending or in difficult circumstances. We will commit 40% of our annual profits to the formation and management of a charitable foundation designed to provide support and positive pathways for young people and their families in local communities. (Beginning with Bristol and Brixton.) The rest will speak for itself. Thank you.
