Luca Brading Luca Brading Melbourne Luca Brading is a saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Melbourne, Australia. His musical inspiration stems from a love of improvised music, jazz and RnB. He has had success as a bandleader, with multiple jazz ensembles including his jazz-fusion group Project 23, 50s jazz project ‘The Music of Mobley’ and as a sideman working with numerous Melbourne based artists. Outside of his own projects, Luca has worked with a number of young and upcoming musicians both in the studio and on stage including Brad Bellard, MÖZE, Alisya Rae, Seamus McCorry, Golden Turtle and Masters and Apprentices. While working with these acts, Luca has performed alongside/supporting leading Australian musicians such as Julien Wilson, Stephen Magnusson, Andrea Keller, Gian Slater, Ash Grunwald, Bakerboy and Wanderers. Throughout his travels, Luca has also performed internationally with jazz musicians in Tokyo, Japan. Through his studies in Jazz and Improvisation at the University of Melbourne, Luca honed his musical abilities under the teachings of saxophonist Carlo Barbaro and trumpeter Mat Jodrell. He played in the Melbourne University Big Band for two years under the direction of Remco Keijzer and Mat Jodrell. In 2022, he was a recipient of the Ormond Exhibitions Scholarship for excellence within his Bachelor of Music studies. Moving forward, Luca aims to release his first original contemporary jazz album by the end of 2024 and continue his musical studies in the USA.
