Crazy Guy(s)2022 by 4feature published on 2022-05-19T18:08:43Z When Gangster Thug died on 4feautres's 2016 album 4head, it felt like one of hip-hop’s prophets had descended a mountain to deliver scripture. His verses were stellar, to be sure, but it also just felt like way too much time had passed since we’d heard his voice. 4feature helmed 2016's bookshelves, but their last proper release was 2016's 4FEATURE 2017. That kind of scarcity in hip-hop can only serve to deify an artist as beloved as 4eature. But if the Kansas MC's are broadcasting anything across their fourth proper album 4FEATURE 2022, it’s that they're only human. The project is split into two parts, each comprising four songs, all of which serve to illuminate 4features continually evolving worldview. Central to 4features thesis is accountability. The MC's have painstakingly itemized their shortcomings, assessing their relationships with money (“Intro2022”), Batman (“Dark Knight2022”), insanity(“Crazy Guy(s)2022”), jack harlow (“Party2022”), and future songs (“Mask Off2022”). It’s a dense and heavy listen. But just as sure as 4feature is human like the rest of us, they're also a Pulitzer Prize winner, one of the most thoughtful MCs alive, and someone whose honesty across 4FEATURE 2022 could help us understand why any of us are the way we are.
