Growing up in the midwest was a blessing as an artist because we draw musical influence from everywhere in our music. Michigan in particular is an incredibly special place to be.

Dilla demonstrated Michigan's influences by producing for Tribe in the east and the Pharcyde in the west.

Artists like Dilla, Madlib & MF DOOM are the main reasons why I began creating hip hop, and my adorement for storytelling guided me into music.

This LP is a tribute to the era of artists that inspired me to create, and to the young kid that loved to write stories.

'97 is my debut, and I want to thank all of you for tapping in. Thank you to JESUS, and thank you to my friends for encouraging me to lock in. '97 is for the select few.

A special shout out to ICECOLDBISHOP, Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, and all of my closest friends. These people always took my beatmaking very seriously and always advocated my artwork. Shoutout to Raphy and Blu as well.
