Ice In The Oaks by Mattb4rd published on 2025-01-25T00:41:38Z When we were younguns we were too dumb to know what we didn't know and it was good. We didn't know the things we learned but we learned them together and for one, I still would. I’d do it all over again and again. Can't imagine a life without you, it’d be a life I couldn't be in. Together we’re better and we have some new things to begin. There's ice in the oaks. Just ask any of the old folks. Through sickness and health and death do we part we haven't thought about quittin’ and aint about to start. We've enjoyed levity and longevity and life won't be gettin’ the better of me. But I must say there's some ice in these old oaks. We paid some taxes on foolishness and bad actions. Sometimes buying more stuff instead of paying the plastic. Held on together through fair and stormy weather. Nothing but true love to thank we’ve been birds of a feather We’re both getting older, bones creek and crack. Damn I can't even bend over and put socks on due to my back. There's ice in the oaks. Just ask any of the old folks. Through sickness and health and death do we part we haven't thought about quittin’ and aint about to start. We've enjoyed levity and longevity and life won't be gettin’ the better of me. But I must say there's some ice in these old oaks. You see, our days are numbered. Our songs will be ending. I can tell. Still we keep tossing our coins in a wishing well. Most years have been good ones. Nothing like others we know that live in living Hell. Wisdom has come because we're one plus one equals one. I don't know if we'll have another round, it may be just one and done. But one thing for sure, this one has been a lot of fun. There's ice in the oaks. Just ask any of the old folks.
