Bond University was proud to host a farewell for retiring Queensland Magistrate,Colin Strofield.

A highly respected judicial officer, Magistrate Strofield has overseen cases in the Specialist Domestic and Family Violence Court for the past decade and a half.

The event offered fascinating insights into the way the legal system has evolved to cater for a challenging area of practice.

Magistrate Strofield has had a long connection with Bond having invited Bond students on placements at the DV Court in Southport and through his association with the Bond Law Faculty’s DV Clinic.

Executive Dean of Bond’s Faculty of Law, Nick James, was among several attendees to speak warmly of Magistrate Strofield’s contribution to the adminustration of justice and the legal profession.

Other speakers included Amanda Ovens, Legal Aid Queensland Senior Lawyer in Violence Prevention and Women’s Advocacy, Carolyn Buchan, Principal Solicitor, Country to Coast Lawyers and Bond Alumnus, and Daniella Pratt, Managing Senior Lawyer of Family Law and Domestic Violence at Caxton Legal Centre.

Magistrate Strofield also spoke.
