4 Track, March 1997 by Mark Brunke published on 2017-05-15T03:40:57Z Digging in boxes continues. A cassette of songs recorded on a home 4 track in March 1997. I borrowed the 4 track recorder for a week to get a couple ideas down and ended up recording these songs over the next two weeks. The writing of the songs went back years, as by then I'd been playing with this drummer for 4 years https://youtu.be/1LV0KNBZljk and we'd push and pull fragments around and I'd put my poetry to it, improv/collage puzzle stuff. Don't know exactly when the video was from. Likely around the same month. Songlist: If Only, Wasted Time (original 4 track, theres a demo I recorded on another one of these), Chaim Soutine, Absolut Hate, Five Year Plan, Low Low (Diet Of Worms), In The Eye (on the Sept 98 tape a version of this is called Queen Elizabeth Sliding Down Queen Anne), Friends Are Graves(this one went over real well...), Where's Mario/On The Ground (I wrote these songs in high school w/my first band, total time then was around a minute and a half, Vaseline Eyes (then STPilots had a hit w/Vaseline so I changed it to Keep The Noise Out, my best song but I've never gotten a decent version of it done), Little Insect (actually its called The Angel Plays, I wrote it while reading Marlowe and watching Wings of Desire; many years later I wanted to rewrite it gain attention to the dying bees by adding an outro riff made up of a part of Flight of the Bumblebee descending internally through 4 chord changes.)
